The 2016 Writing Journey

The 2016 Writing Journey is shaping up. We have about fifty active members and the framework for a strong year in 2016, having gained in November two new sponsors: the Woodridge Public Library and the Glen Ellyn Public Library. They will provide us with room resources for our workshops and events, all of which continue to be free and open to the public.

It looks like we will do another short story anthology project (the Journey’s seventh) in 2016. Current front runner anthology themes are heroes and legends or fairy tales.

Sam McAdams will be leading our third annual Editing Path.

Tim is a founding member of the Journey, co-Municipal Liaison for the Naperville region of National Novel Writing Month, and the author of several short stories.

The original release date for the latest Writing Journey anthology (I have a story in it!) was going to be today. It actually came out a couple of days ago, but either way, it’s available! In time for the holidays! Woohoo!

Here’s a little information about our anthology, Voices from the Dark:

Within each of us lies a darkness. A deep, unnerving essence that lurks at the fringes of our consciousness.

Eleven members of the Writing Journey set out to explore the darkness that lies in all of us. The Writing Journey beckons you to experience their darkness.

You can order the print book directly from CreateSpace here or from Amazon here.

There should eventually be an e-book available as well. If you’re waiting for that to happen, please let me know (comments below would be great!) so I can poke and prod the powers-that-be to make it happen.

Catherine published a novel and short story back in the 1990s. Life intervened, and she didn’t write for a while. But then she started writing again in 2010 for National Novel Writing Month, and has continued to write in November and throughout the year. She has stories in two Journey anthologies, Drops of Midnight and Other Worlds. She is currently either revising her latest NaNoWriMo novel from 2012, working on short fiction, or posting on her blog, CB’s Mojo.

Voices From the Dark Anthology Available Dec 15!

“Within each of us lies a darkness. A deep, unnerving essence that lurks at the fringes of our consciousness.

Some hear it as a voice whispering secrets from the dark shadows. Others feel its presence as a cold chill sent tingling down the spine.

However it makes itself known, the darkness is there. It’s real, and it wants to be freed.

Eleven members of the Writing Journey set out to explore the darkness that lies in all of us.

To listen to and translate their own Voices From The Dark.

They searched in such places as a local library, the house of a typical American Family, a high-end restaurant, an ER, and a graveyard.

The results are tales of death, betrayal, terrorism, monsters, murderers, broken dreams, and the undead.

The Writing Journey beckons you to experience their darkness.” -The Writing Journey
